The operation made everyone look like fools on live TV, but especially him and his epic failure to dock with Blue One's Assault Jaeger. Now it's all over the internet! Which is probably why he's desperately trying to stay away from anything with a net connection right now, and grumbling to himself in one of the common areas.]

Who even thought doing a live broadcast of a combat mission was a good idea...

She taps her foot. "So...do you think the EDF will demote you for this? Busting people's asses down to private does seem to be the military brass way of dealing with screw ups."

I don't know. Technically I'm 2nd Lieutenant, but it feels like the rank is mostly for show. What will they do, send me back to academy?

Everyone was in a hurry. And it was the same speed as during training exercises.

[Now Asagi feels even worse.]

I hope whoever thought this whole operation up like that ends up in the hotseat. This is supposed to be a moment for us to push back against the aliens, not stumble because someone thinks they might just be able to look good.

And by someone, you mean admiral Komine. That was the worst commander I had to listen to. Makes you appreciate all the other ones.

[VG walks into the common area in his pilot suit a drink in one hand and a data pad in the other. The audio carries for a moment to reveal a comedy type feel for whatever the pilot appears to be watching only for VG to notice Asagi and turn off the video relatively quickly.]

Hey, didn't realize you were here, their having a team training exercise for Zero-G TSF maneuvers and we're on break. I didn't expect you to be here, so how's it going? That last mission was a bit of a miss, er mess, wasn't it?

[VG is trying very had to maintain a straight face but the Italian seems to be failing rather miserably.]

You don't have to beat around the bush. Everything about it was an utter embarassment.

[VG takes a moment to look at the younger pilot before closing his eyes and taking a deep breath. Re-opening them his face is under a much more natural composed expression.]

I apologize for losing it a bit there. I hadn't seen the footage from the mission debrief and it is rather readily available on non-military media.

Everything turned out find so I wouldn't worry too much and just let the joke roll. Give it a week and someone else will do something dumber and you'll be clear. And I know that you're better than that after the training exercise from hell that we all went through, sometimes a bad situation makes a good pilot blunder. If anyone else gives you too much crap about it just wait for a bit and they'll do something dumb for you to turn back on them.

[Sigh.] ...No offense taken. Yeah, I know, everyone will forget eventually. Doesn't make me feel good about it right now, though. And that white Wulgaru just rubbed more salt into the wound by running in circles around us. It's a miracle everyone came out of it fine in the end.

[Ryuichi being...Ryuichi will probably have seen this and being saavy try to give some words of encouragement]

On the bright side everyone will probably forget about it within the next month.

Trending videos don't have a long lifespan.

Maybe I should just go to sleep for a month then. They'll forget eventually, but it doesn't make me feel any better now.
