A Simple Game of Cards...

[So, the last few weeks have proved... interesting, for the Unity Group's would be ninja. He got his new unit, and since then twice helped to thwart the bad guys... but at the same time, there's been failure, near-casualties, and even more mystery as enemies pop out of the woodwork. A whole lot of stuff that could lead to a whole lot of stress...

Thankfully, he had arranged for a potential release, with the help of one Kaname Chidori.

Cards.]

[Specifically, black jack. Poker was on the proverbial table for later - for now, they were just experimenting. Right now, as he looked at his cards, he was making a terrible bet...
Trying to go for 21, when he was already on 18.]

Are you sure about that? If you go over, you're going to owe me 2000 yen.

[Where most teenagers play for fun, Kaname Chidori is totally down for playing for money. Particularly with summer vacation approaching in August.]

[tiger_ken]

Yeah, yeah, we'll see about that!

[What Ken hasn't let on, is that he only agreed to the money aspect because he, in fact, doesn't get paid for his work here. Success here would mean something he could actually spend!]

[chidori]

[Kaname's not exactly buying into the brunette's unebbing enthusiasm. She lets out a sigh.]

If you say so.

[Kaname slowly peels the top card off the deck, then flips it over right as it's about to hit the able.]

[Another sigh.]

You know, I warned you. I'll start shuffling for our next round. You dig out your wallet.

[Kaname begins to collect the next few cards for their next game.]

M-Maybe later. Like, in case you end up winning anymore...

[Ken has realised his fate. Still...]

Thanks for saying yes to this though. Been a while since I've really done something so... mundane.

"Heh." Dido declares out loud, pausing as she walks past and getting a slight grin on her face.

"I've always wondered what the room of a teenage Ninja looks like..."

She peaks her head in, eyes widening in shock as she sees–!

[Not very much at all, really. Like, aside of the bare standards of any room in this facility, all that's really there is a bag propped against the wall, a few makeshift weights, and scrolls, bottles, and various small objects arranged on shelves.]

[Ken doesn't even look up, deep in the midst of losing Poker against Kaname now.]

Dido takes a step inside, taps her foot on the floor a few times, then sighs.

"Not even a Nightingale Floor..."

Kaname's clearly here for the money. Okay, and the good company. But she could do with a little extra money.

[As Yuuya is walking through the base from visiting ratchet he passes the open door in the barracks and notes the two teens inside. Pausing for a moment after passing the door he listens before coming back to the doorway.]

Wait a second, are you two gambling in here? I thought you didn't actually draw a paycheck Ken so how are you intending to cover any debts you rack up?

[Judging by the flustered look on his face, Ken's not so cunning scheme has been revealed. Well done Yuuya.]

[Looking at the flustered boy Yuuya shakes his head and sighs.]

Traditionally yes when the door is shut. You had the door partially open and your voice carried into the hall where I heard it in passing.

Look just how far down are you at this point Ken because it doesn't sound like the day's been going your way at all.

Wait, what's this about you not getting paid?

[How is he going to pay her back if he's not even drawing a salary?]

No more games until you pay up! And if you can't do that, you can spend the next two months cleaning up after my hamster.

Don't worry, I remember. And I'm fine with cards... though I'm wondering what's got Ken so panicked.

N-Nothing! Nothing at all except... uh... never expected to have this much female company?

[Smooooth Ken. Real smooth.]

Really? You're the only guy on the Savior team... gotta get used to that sooner or later!

[And so she just goes and sits down next to Ken.]
