[So, the last few weeks have proved... interesting, for the Unity Group's would be ninja. He got his new unit, and since then twice helped to thwart the bad guys... but at the same time, there's been failure, near-casualties, and even more mystery as enemies pop out of the woodwork. A whole lot of stuff that could lead to a whole lot of stress...
Thankfully, he had arranged for a potential release, with the help of one Kaname Chidori.

[Specifically, black jack. Poker was on the proverbial table for later - for now, they were just experimenting. Right now, as he looked at his cards, he was making a terrible bet...

[Where most teenagers play for fun, Kaname Chidori is totally down for playing for money. Particularly with summer vacation approaching in August.]

[What Ken hasn't let on, is that he only agreed to the money aspect because he, in fact, doesn't get paid for his work here. Success here would mean something he could actually spend!]

Oh yeah, it's nothing. Things are pretty boring around here. For me, anyway.

Normally, Kyoko and I play video games or something at home, but that's not really an option with me living on base.

Though you could like, maybe arrange a trip into town or something. Get someone to come along so you can't get yelled at for security reasons or whatever, and voila.

Maybe one of the autobots could be your chaperone?

I don't know what would be worse -- Sousuke, or one of them.
[Though explaining Sousuke's presence might be a lot easier than explaining why an autobot is tagging along.]
At any rate, Kyoko and I hang out a lot after school anyway. It's not any day that I can play cards with you.
[Especially since a lot of their missions seemed to coincide on weekends.]

Traditionally yes when the door is shut. You had the door partially open and your voice carried into the hall where I heard it in passing.
Look just how far down are you at this point Ken because it doesn't sound like the day's been going your way at all.
