[Not too long ago the Command Car belonging to the 13th Genoace Team returned from parts unknown. Interestingly it seems to be festooned with rather ornate looking spears across its body. About a day or two ago Calvin figured he would try to follow up on one of the clues that the guidestone offered up.]
[While the team itself was no worse for wear, Calvin on the other hand looked like a half drowned rat when he stepped out of the car and was holding onto what looked to be an absurdly ornate egg carved out of solid gold, bearing a number of carvings depicting both death and rebirth.]
[Now sequestered back in his quarters, Calvin is huddled on his chair with a towel and a hot cup of coffee and trying to relax.]
-We hold power beyond imagination.-
-I hold the power to sift through dreams-
-I hold the power of life itself.-
Yes. I'm very sure the both of you do. Pipe down.
[And as it turns out the first artifact, a rather sinister looking mask as well as the egg could speak. And they are clearly not exactly the most benign of objects.]
-You cannot deny us forever.-
Please tell me we have soundproof boxes.

I spoke to the mask.

-I know of everything that is and there was. Wear me and I can grant this knowledge to you.
And please don't wear it.

[Sielje glances seriously at the egg and the mask. She turns to Calvin, not waiting for their response.]
Do not be concerned, I have no intention of putting that thing on.
How unusual is it for an object to turn into such? Where did you find those?

Decades at the very least... and from what I've been told these things have been practically drowned in magic for even longer than most civilizations.
As for finding these... the mask was pretty much put into our care by its previous caretaker. The egg was in a abandoned temple in a cave that happened to be under a lake.
[Calvin glares at the egg like it did him great offense.]
Apparently whoever built the place thought it would be a good idea for the ceiling to start collapsing and flood the entire temple if the egg was pulled from its pedestal.

Under a lake.
Do you deal with such affairs frequently?

[Sielje is busy tsunning at the planet itself before composing herself after a short moment.]
Anyway.
What plan have you regarding those artifacts now?

[Calvin picks up the mask and just tosses it into the air casually.]
As for these things... I'll have to keep them safe and out of anyone's hands. Passing it along to my superiors might have them try to study them and end up sending them to the wrong people.
-I am getting nauseous-
You don't even have a stomach. Stop complaining.

Do not be a poor host, I do not think the mask likes being thrown like that.

[Calvin lets the mask land in his hands once more, ceasing his throwing.]
It probably doesn't. Then again I doubt anyone likes to have to deal with its whispering and tempting either.

[He stares at the mask.]
Usually less than benign sentient artifacts try to tempt people into using them, its either to control them or place some kind of curse.
And I definitely think that these things are anything but benevolent.

...
What of the egg? What does it ask of people?
From:

That.
[Calvin sighs, shaking his head as he just lays the mask back on the table.]
Apparently the people who had it before it was sealed away were fond of bloodletting. Being centered around death and rebirth, blood plays a big part of that from how it probably worked from the looks of the carvings.

[Sielje picks up the egg and shakes it to show it who's boss.]

[If this moment wasn't so surreal, Calvin would be laughing right now.]
