It is possible either Ingram Plisken or Calico McCready survived the explosion that engulfed both right before the Cross Gate shut down.

Extremely unlikely, but possible.

It is their business. I doubt they mind it much. And they might always dig up something we do not know yet.

You could say that. But do not follow in their footsteps.

Do you think that fleet will try to come to Earth any time soon? The crossgate was locked up, but I don't know for how long.

I can only guess how much damage Ingram did to that fleet. Hopefully, a lot.

But the Balmarians will regroup. And then, they will come to Earth. I do not know how much time it will take them, and as usual in such cases, we need to prepare for the most pessimistic scenario.

It's always the worst case scenario, isn't it?

Well, if we prepared for the most optimistic thing then Earth would be a smoldering crater already, I guess.

No. The worst case scenario rarely happens. Usually it is at least slightly better.

But we need to be prepared for it regardless. So it does not surprise us when it does happen.
