Look, it's another announcement. All UG pilots were informed to come in person or look at the nearest screen, which shows Antov's uneasy face just now.

"This is a high-priority broadcast. Do I have everyone's attention? Good. So..."

"The good news is that we found the Lady's Good Men headquarters. It's in Africa and satellites do not show anything in the area, so it's most likely underground. It wouldn't surprise me if it was Professor Dupond's find, the ancient installation. Anyway, that's the good news."

"And the bad news is that there's a high energy reading detected in the area. I have no idea what the Good Men are up to, but they're doing something. It's too risky to send you guys in through the faux crossgate, even if we'd figure out how to activate it. You'll have to dig your way in, and my suggestion as to how is already on the Commander's table."

"They're going to fight Lady's Good Men? The final battle, and then it's over? ... Without me?"

Hey, look who else heard of the announcement, somehow. Gavin is not even angry, throwing himself around or cursing loudly like you'd expect him to be.

"This... isn't fair. This is all wrong. This isn't how it's supposed to go at all. I'm the hero... I'm the hero, dammit..."

He looks depressed.

"we" were always here. You just didn't notice.

[Sarah takes a moment to enjoy her cigarette in silence.]

Anyways, who cares? It's not like there's never going to be another group of bad guys. Even if you're the obstructive sidekick to "us", you've got plenty of shots at being a hero later. There's a surplus of threats in the world these days.

Not my department, I'm afraid.

...You could use some time to think anyways. Patience is a virtue and all.

We haven't really talked before, so you've probably never noticed, but I don't particularly care whether you get to play hero or not. Tiankui fixes itself, the only way your use of funding impacts me is if I get to have nice cigarettes or not. I figure most everyone else here's the same way; they don't care if you're fighting bad guys, until you start to hurt them in the process.

...Anyways, I can live with bad tabacco. As for patience...I dunno, maybe you could pick up a hobby or make some more friends. Maybe you could figure out what heroic qualities you're still lacking.

What's the Commander's plan then? If we have to tunnel to their location, they'll have plenty of warning time to know we're coming.

Right then.

... Depending on what the Good Men are planning, I might request authorization to form SolSavior. If it's something big, I don't want health concerns get in the way of us stopping it. I know Ken and Dido would feel the same way.

Now that Loni's uncle no longer plays a role in the UG's funding, Dido tempted to go to town on Loni. Rip him a new one. Call him out. But that'd just feed into his persecution complex.

Instead, Dido reaches through the bars and flings a copy of Joseph Campbell's Hero with a Thousand Faces onto Loni's bed.

"Read the chapter about the Monomyth." She says. "It might help you understand."

"Your Hero's Journey." Dido offers. "How you started on your path, how you strayed from the path, and how you can get back on it."

Dido doesn't think much of Loni's chances...but self-reflection never hurt.

"Judging by your current underground location..." She muses, looking around. "You and your friends have entered the Underworld. Catch my drift?"

"I don't know." Dido muses, leaning against a wall. "Maybe? I mean, you've made some very poor decisions in the past few days...but I might have done the same thing in your shoes and with your experiences."

She sighs. "So I can't hate you, as tempting as the thought is. All in all...you're still a kid, trying to figure out what's right." She nods at the book.

"When the Hero enters the Underworld, she faces his darkest hour. She's forced to confront his flaws, regrets, and darkest desires in order to escape. But when she does, she emerges back into the world stronger and wiser, knowing how to make the world a better place."

She shrugs. "Maybe you can use this captivity to do the same. Do some growing up, you know?"
