BROKEN IN FAITHFULNESS

[So, Kagura was revealed to be a little Mistletoe after her last operation a couple weeks ago. She left her operation bed after a couple days. Since then, she's been absolutely nowhere to be seen, the door to her room always closed and nothing answering any attempts at knocking on it (and attempts at vent-crawling finding themselves thwarted by automated laser fire defenses - Kagura is kind of paranoid).

Today, though, for some reason you're wandering about at somewhere around 3AM, the time when absolutely nobody in this area of Alhambra should be even awake - and you can hear a metallic clatter that probably shouldn't be there. And investigating it has you find...

...the tiny form of a Mistletoe grunting and struggling to lift a pen about as big as she is from the ground with trembling little arms, clearly taking her a lot of effort. On the plus side, she seems so busy and exerting with her current task that she didn't notice you there.

[The chibi-sized creature quickly gets her bearings back, though, before looking at Serena with a grumpy look, before half-closing her large eyes questioningly]

[Selena makes no move towards the pen. After all, she didn't really get an answer from Kagura.]

Have to confess, not exactly sure about what you're trying to get across with a look like that. Still too used to you being taller, and with absolutely no facial expressions for that matter.

But if this is something top secret, it's safe with me. Maybe you were just being a neat freak about someone dropping a pen. And I'm also dead tired too. But, if it's no great deal, I can probably help you get done whatever you're hoping for.

[A tiny hand pinches the bridge of a tiny nose. The effect of exasperation would probably be more effective if Kagura didn't look like a little cute doll though.

She then waves an arm dismissively and resumes her pathetic attempts at carrying the perfectly normal metal pen]

[Selena watches for another moment before walking over and grabbing hold of the pen.]

Didn't hear a "no", so...

[She lifts it up to eye-level, and Kagura too if she doesn't get off of it.]

If picking it up's still a big deal, you'll be free to just let it fall to the floor again wherever you need it to be. Sound fair?

[Kagura is lifted for a moment before letting go of the pen somewhere about mid-lift, floating back unsteadily. She seems to weigh basically nothing, even less than you'd expect of a fairy that doesn't reach twenty centimeters tall]



[She then turns her head at Selena angrily, clenching her teeth in clear rage and frustration]

[And here marks the first time Selena's actually gotten to see Kagura visually display anger. Quite the adorable sight, really.]

You're free to chew me out once you get back in your suit, Major, but for the moment a little more appreciation for help would be better.

If I wasn't here, you'd probably be struggling with this pen all the way into the morning, and how would that look?

[Kagura's tiny hand twitch open and closed a couple times as the fairy clearly thinks some very nasty things but manages to keep herself under control. Wounded, defenseless, prideless, and humiliated, the diminute major can keep control over one single thing - herself - and she's not going to give it up.

Still, there is definitely venom behind those adorable eyes, like an angry kitten about to bite]

[And Selena just smiles.]

So where do you need this taken?

[She waves the pen.]

[The large eyes narrow at Selena. Kagura is considering her options here.

Then a tiny hand just flips Selena a tiny bird before Kagura turns around. She can get another pen elsewhere without an annoying human who thinks she knows anything smartassing at her]

And what was that just now? I couldn't quite make it out, considering how small you are.

[Kagura's hands twitch. But no. The world has spun outside of control. She is fucked in every sense of the word and she can do nothing to stop it. But she can at least not give this asshole the satisfaction of making her angry to get her own jollies.

She begins floating away.]

[Had she gone too far? Hard to tell when it came to someone as hostile to offers of help as much as jokes and light teasing.]

Like I said before, you're perfectly free to chew me out once your suit's back. But until then, your productivity's going to drop like a rock if this is how you treat people wanting to help you.

[She plays with the pen a bit more before yawning. It really has been late, and butting heads with the grumpbot hasn't done her fading strength any good.]

At any rate, the pen will be waiting for you at your door when you get back there. Best of luck with whatever you needed it for.

[Kagura stops, and half turns to look at Selena over her shoulder on the thing about productivity. Then she laughs a despaired chuckle.



Or, well, she tries to do so. About half a second into it she begins coughing her guts out, landing on the ground on all fours (well, all twos, Kagura does not actually have legs) and sounding like a facehugger is trying to break through her throat]

[Selena'd just about gone to go make good on her pen delivery, but that's when she hears the coughing. And it doesn't take a genius specializing in Mistletoe anatomy to know that something is very wrong.]

Kagura?

... Kagura!

[She races over to the fallen fairy, grabbing hold of a communicator.]

Elma, are you there?

Ugaaaaa... Selena, it's so late... and I was just finishing up making your bed for to-

Later Elma! Radio the Graveyard staff on the base, including anyone tasked with monitoring Kagura's health! She's having some kind of coughing fit!

[KAgura flails a tiny arm, making an emphatic slashing gesture of denial as she continues coughing to get it across to Selena to stop. She does not want anyone called here.

With practiced effort, she gets the coughs to progressively diminish until she has them under control out of sheer concentrated stubbornness, still breathing heavily and her eyes tearing up a little from the body reaction to the sheer force of the coughs.

She's... well, saying "okay" in relation to Kagura is never really very appropriate, but at least she does not sound like she's breaking anymore.]

[At first she just stands, and waits. She doesn't know if Kagura will be alright, if this is something that she's dealt with before. But after a moment...]

Selena? Selena I was able to open a channel with them, but they don't know where either of you are. Where are you located?

...

Selena?

... My mistake, Elma. Tell them it was a false alarm.

Really? Because I don't think they-

-If they want to get upset about that, let them. I'll take the heat if it comes to it.

[She switches off the communicator, looking down at Kagura, trying to determine if another fit's waiting in the wings.]

There.

[Kagura slowly breathes herself more or less back to normal, with breath as ragged as one would expect. She wipes out the tears from her cheeks, frowning.

She then turns her head slightly aside to look at Selena with a hard look in her large eyes that betrays a whole lot of despair. Well, Selena, here you have it. The mighty Kagura.]
