[Over the last few days, people who engage in various holiday-related activities might notice that they are being watched by a Gebian. He looks exactly the same as most of his kin, but he seems to react in a somewhat abashed manner when you spot him. And...]
Hello, I am Pentu. Do not mind me; I am here merely to research Earth holidays such as Christmas, Hannukah and Kwanzaa. Would you mind answering a few questions?
[He talks! The voice is kinda insectoid and awkward, like how a cute bug would talk on a kid's cartoon, but still. What exactly were you doing that grabbed his interest? Maybe you knew in advance about him and it's a planned endeavour, even.]

It's called Home Alone.

The movie sounds like it touches upon very important themes. Is it customary to watch it on this day? Is it an ancient custom?

My nams is Ren Ubuntu. There's not a lot of people like me anywhere on Earth, but I don't mind.

Are you engaged in holiday activities right now?

[Ren makes a theatrical arm movement, showing off Christmas decorations they were putting up here and there around the bases.]
What do you think?

[Confused Gebian is confused.]

It's symbolic to have a tree for holidays, with decorations. At first apples and other fruits were used, but those were too heavy and impractical, so now we have lights and various baubles instead. Too bad you can't actually eat them, can you?

What does the tree symbolize?

Let's see... the tree... symbolises...
I do not have any idea, actually. I can only make educated guesses!
[Derp.]

What is your guess, then?

That's what the tree symbolises. It's a promise of better times that are to come. It says "you are experiencing hardship now, but things will get better. Stick together and you will prevail, as one strong group". That way, it becomes a powerful symbol of unity.
You see, it just happens that for the religion that first celebrated Christmas, rebirth and unity are both very important themes.

Could you tell me about the holiday activities you are engaged in right now?

And right now I was just going to finish wrapping up some presents for friends and then mail them out. A lot of them aren't here and thigns are kinda busy, but I can still send them to them all the same!
[Largan, Captain Grodek, even Emily and Dique wherever they are now. Flit even has a new hair ribbon he'd gotten for Yurin too... not that he knew where she was right now.]

Ah, no, this is a part of Christmas, is it not? I read about it! I do not, however, know the details, or the reason for this custom.

... But I also heard from someone that December 25th actually wasn't the day he was born and they just changed that because people were conquering other cultures...
[Yeah. That's what happens when you're a kid and Christmas vacation means not being in school and actually learning about the holiday properly.]
It's still a good way to end the year though!

She thumbs her nose. "I'll give you a hint: it's the basis of life for countless sentient beings in this galaxy...."
If this Gebian's the scarab beetle equivalent of the Science Guy, Dido may as well put on a show.

Water... This is water! The temperature is low enough for the rain to become frozen instead! It all makes sense now... This is why it is so adhesive!
[He starts to get really excited in a very nerdy way.]

She gestures at her creation. "The Snow-human, for instance! A simple statue that mimics the human form with three spheres stacked on atop of each other! Professional snow-sculptors can create more complex shapes such as, uh, sphinxes!"
She gestures to a (bribed) group of kids across the block. "There's also the igloo, a hut made entirely of stacked snow blocks! There's ski and sled sports where you glide down hills of snow using wooden boards."
She picks up a wad of snow and curls it into a ball. "And there is the proud tradition...of the snowball fight!"

I think I would like to try this out. I am sure I can create a more accurate effigy. Can you help me roll up balls of snow ov varied size? A dozen should suffice for the moment.

Ha ha, it was a clever trick! You have been tricked.

She turns around, five snowballs buried in the crook of her arm while she fingers one in her other hand. "Not let's see how you fare against a season master of the Snowball! Yah!"
And on December 29th, 20XX U.D., Dido Sybil flings a snowball at Pentu, striking the first blow of the first interplanetary snowball fight...

[The fight erupts. Surely there won't be no survivors.]
