Newtype explanations

After the rescue operation, you receive words from the mercenary leader that asked you for help. This is aimed at everyone willing to listen, but ESPECIALLY a certain young and foolhardy kid who stole a mobile suit not too long ago.

"This is captain Jamil Neate of Freeden speaking. Thank you for saving Tiffa."

"You deserve some explanation. Tiffa has a very rare gift - she is a Newtype, the kind that was used in war against the SRA fifteen years ago. Even now there are people who would abuse their power for their own goals. No matter what, I will not let that happen. This is Freeden's mission, to travel around the world and look for Newtypes we can help, make sure no one enslaves or abuses them."

"I am glad we could work together. If I ever need your assistance again, I'll let you know. Likewise if you need my crew for anything, just give me a call."

It looks like it's over, but then Jamil has one final thing to say.

"Because of what happened with the Gundam, Tiffa is unconscious. It's psychic backlash - but she should be fine. Do not blame yourselves for what happened. Just give her time to recover."

Raquel has been listening to the captain for now as she thinks over his words she finally takes a moment to speak up about it.

"I see so more of the legacy of the SRA's obsession with power and post-humanism. Glad we got the kid out of there and ya. It would honestly not be a enjoyable thing to worry about everyone I get near poking me in the soul. I hope she pulls through all right and as for help I'll keep that in mind. If you need any help call me up. People preying on people like that just gets me mad. If one has strength one needs to be more hornoable about it than that. Then again it's men of weak character who'd do something like this..."

"I don't think that man was involved with the SRA. It looks like there's a mysterious, third party at work here. But I agree with you - strength should be used to protect those weaker than you. Not try to control them."

"The weak need tot try and improve mind you. They can't do it alone and they need an good example too, right?"

Okay a bit of an odd way of looking at things but she seems to mean it

"The question is who is he working with and what his plans for Tiffa was?"

"That's what I'm trying to figure out. But one thing for sure, I won't let them get away with this."

[fire_dancer]

"I don't plan to. I mean my master gave me the option to walk even if it would result in me being on the street I still had the option to go and I'd not be stopped."

[srwu_npc]

"Good."

Jamil nods, but it looks like he doesn't have anything else to add.

"I guess I best be looking for the mess hall. I'm starving and could use something to eat while we're on our way."

She will depart to look for food unless the Captain stops her.

She's a... Newtype? You're sure she's going to be okay, right? Why did that even happen!? She didn't do anything!

Hey, it's the kid with whom it all started. Jamil wears sunglasses but you can still tell his gaze is cold.

"As a Newtype, Tiffa's ability to connect with other people is special. When you used Gundam X's satellite cannon to wipe out the attacking enemy force, a lot of people died. And she felt it all, every single death all at once."

Jamil nods.

"For some reason, Tiffa decided to trust you. She lent you her power, knowing well what would happen."

He doesn't sound completely happy with it, either.

I know she's not doing well right now. Let me go see her!

"No."

Let me see her! I don't have any reason to trust your word that she's really okay!

"Will you have a reason to trust me if you see her unconscious body lying in bed, without moving?"

Jamil frowns.

"Because that's what she is like at the moment. Tiffa needs rest, what she doesn't need is to be bothered by people she just met."

[[Garrod quickly grows frustrated with our being a responsible guardian and adult and, turns heel to run off. He's two kinds of upset, and not about to apologize for either one of them, or anything else he's caused!]]

"What are you going to do now?"

Jamil actually calls out to Garrod as he's leaving.

"Are you going to take responsibility? Only you can make this decision!"

So... the newtypes... they really exists?

"Yes. They are very rare but they definitely exist."

It takes me back... There were always rumours flying around us grunts back then about newtypes. I always thought it's just something that someone made up so we have something to blame. "We lost because the enemy is a newtype! We won because there's a newtype in our side!"

"The rumors were true. Well, at least some of them. But no war is won or lost because of Newtypes alone."

"At least, as long as you still want a home to return to."

What do newtypes actually do anyway?

"Each one's powers are slightly different. But they all can reach out to other people - especially other Newtypes, but not only. You could call it telepathy."
