"It's only polite to do so, regardless. We are the Sage Trinity, the rulers of Legion. We are impressed with your performance, Unity Group. The person I would like to talk about most, however, is the hunter Ashe, who is currently your guest. Ashe, the Model A Biometal, which you managed to obtain, is of great interest to us. Could you come to the Legion Headquarters, so we could take a look at it? I believe there a great potential is resting in that artifact."


"I agree. Bring some other people with you, in case Prometheus shows up again. Or another bad guy; he can't be the only one who's after the Biometal."


"Yeah, feel free to take a look around our place, I'm sure you will like it. Just don't dirty the floors with your muddy boots, you hear me?"


"I'm sure they won't do that."

That's not it for the transmission from Legion HQ. Someone else calls Unity Group, a purple-haired girl.

Who did you say you were? And what legion is it you lead?

"So they really don't know! Kids these days... We're the leaders of Legion, an international organization that obtains and researches technological artifacts, and fights against smugglers and raiders who try to get their hands on them illegally. As well as other criminals."


"To do this, we employ the help of independent hunters from all over the world. In a way, you could draw a lot of parellels between your organization and ours."

I see...I hadn't heard before, but there are lots of things I run into now that I hadn't heard about before. Most of them a lot weirder than you.

What do you know about Biometal? Other than that it's sentient and apparently has a temper.

Because there aren't enough crime, aliens and modern technological advances to deal with?

"Not all hunters are soldiers. That doesn't mean they can't fight; there's a lot of overlap, but in the end recovering treasure is different from fighting alien invaders."

I just meant that there's lots of stuff to do without needing ancient civilizations with powerful artifacts too.

"I believe what Thomas means is that it's not within many hunters' nature to do a lot of the things you mentioned. Many of them are driven forward by adventuring spirit, not discipline; they wouldn't find their place in a more regimented army."


"That's a good way to put it."

I wouldn't want everyone to be soldiers. I just expected most civilians to live civilian lives.

"There are all kinds of civilians out there, just like there are all kinds of soldiers. I'm sure you know some members of the army who are not actually that keen on fighting, don't you?"

Yes, but they generally didn't choose to do so.

"Which is why they usually hold support roles, and lead much less violent, more civilian, lives than most hunters. Being a fighter is not the same as being a soldier, and the opposite. In fact, one of the most promising warriors I know in not a soldier at all."

Not sure it's a good thing to have armed people run around without accountability.

"Don't be concerned, they are accountable. To us. If any hunters do something that's not right, then they're in deep trouble. We're here to do good in the world."

If you learn about it. Didn't you just say that they didn't have the lines of reporting and structure of militaries?

"Don't be ridiculous. Legion is not as rigouristic as Unity Group, but we still require hunters to listen to superiors and report their actions. Imagine the chaos if we just let everyone run around willy-nilly and do anything they want!"

Do you even know what Unity Group command structures are like?

The Trinity must be really amazing if they help give people a place to stay, even for a little while.

I might have to wait until everyone's business with the Sage Trinity is done though... but I'll find time to visit you, I promise!

So, you want to check Model A, then? [Ashe grins] I suppose I'll get properly compensated for my troubles, of course.

"Ah, how shrewd! You're not doing this purely out of good will, I see. Well, this is your job after all."


"Of course, you will get a rightful reward for this. Model A is a one-of-a-kind artifact, and the opportunity to study it is worth a lot. It's also very important to make sure it doesn't fall in the wrong hands."

"I think I will go exploring I love meeting new people and the like all the time. This should be an heck of a trip! Thank you for allowing such to be allowed. Also is there anything I should know of your culture and the like so I don't insult someone without meaning to?"

"Eh, don't treat us like strange, alien foreigners! Legion is a normal organization. Just act like you'd act everywhere and it should be fine."

"Fair enough even though I'd be the alien when you think about it. I promise I'll be good and not kidnap anyone, for experiments."

It's clear she's joking and gets what the sage is saying.
