[Between the hospital and the battle, Volya's return to base was less than graceful what with Interitus slouching in and lazily grounding itself before Volya just flopped out of the creature before gently being lowered to the floor where he proceeded to lie facedown on the ground and is very unwilling to get up. Too tired. Of course Interitus wasn't too happy with that for reasons, and thus a vine proceeded to poke him in the side.]

Mmrgh... not now. go way... wanna rest.

[Poke. poke. poke.]

Water you later. Lemme sleep..

Okay okay... geez..

[Volya struggles to get up, stumbling and grumbling over to the watering can a short distance away before returning to drizzle its contents on his partner, who cooed happily... comment on the ridiculousness of what you're seeing?]

He did... I don't know how he does it but its like he's always around when I need him.

Actually they tried to kill me before Interitus found me. But I guess him saving me gave them even more of a reason...

[There was a plaintive whine from the large creature, a rather odd noise considering his size and general appearance.]

It probably does... but Interitus here wouldn't hurt anyone. I don't think he has it in him.

[An odd cooing sound emanated from the massive creature. Volya tilted his head a little as if trying to figure out what exactly was being said.]

It feels like a giant misunderstanding... maybe someone is manipulating those knights and telling them that the prophecy says you're evil. Even though you didn't do anything.

Well... back when I was a kid-

[From her shadow, out crawls the DuskBird in its avian form, giving Mizuki something to lean against as she continued her story, and occasionally look up in amusement.]

... For a while, I just thought this was a pet bird. I thought it was an animal, so my subconscious had it behave as such. A little pet that turned out to be a whole lot more.

[Kind of hard to imagine you as a kid Mizuki, then again you ARE ten years old... not that Volya knows that. Still, the story has him thinking.]

...Do you think Interitus might be the same somehow? Like... there's more to him than what he is right now?

[This earned a curious look from the plant thing, its eyes looking curiously at the Duskbird as a vine reached out to curiously poke at the newcomer.]

Maybe... but I know next to nothing about it. It could just be an actual sentient being.

[As the DuskBird's poked, Mizuki pauses for a moment, before smiles and closes her eyes. Just this once... she can let the DuskBird be a bird again. And almost immediately the DuskBird begins to return the poking with curious pecking of its own.]

[Immediately Interitus sat up, tilting its head like a curious puppy.]

[The Duskbird felt odd to the plant creature, which was a very round about thing to say in itself. But still, it was a bird. Interitus liked birds. They sang whenever it was outside and they perched on its horns.]

This is so weird...

[His tone stated otherwise though, as the scene amused him for some strange reason.]

Its... kind of less understanding what he's saying... more like I know how he feels... its weird.

He was kinda annoyed by me saying he's too lazy to water himself, but he took it back when I said I'd stop.

"Weird" is selling it short. I didn't even know it's possible to have a pet plant monster.

So the watering is less necessary for his survival, and more like throwing a dog a treat for good behaviour?

I guess. I can't really rub his belly or scratch his ears that easily... I mean... does he even have those?

[This earned a quizzical noise from Interitus... which tried to find out the answer and ended up rolling backwards and bonking its face into the wall. Thankfully there was no permanent damage on either end.]

... And I'm thinking that might be a good thing.
