1) [Optimus]
[The Leader of the Autobots had recently returned, and not for the better. The contents of his trailer were testament to that. Ratchet was in critical condition - several sections of his body literally blown out by shots from Starscream. And it wasn't just that...]
I apologize for not preparing any of you for the appearance of the Constructicons or the Triple Changers. While it was fortunate that we were able to stop them before they could go on a rampage... the threat may be even greater if Megatron has had the other combiner groups arrive on Earth.
[Wait. OTHER groups?! There was more than just those guys?!]
There is... a lot you may need to ask me after this battle. And I am willing to answer as much as I can to ensure we are prepared for our next battle.
2) [Ratchet & Wheeljack]
[For those of you who want to visit the downed Autobot... well... its a mess. A lot of his body was actually opened up, revealing the intricate workings of the machinery within... and there was a lot busted. Damaged plating and wrecked parts were scattered across the ground and there were a LOT of cables snaking into the wounds and other areas. As he happened to BE this team's medic, one of the other Autobots from another group had came by temporarily to assist the technician teams to stabilize Ratchet and handle the more difficult and tremendously finicky of procedures so he could be left in their care. A low and rasping crackle echoed through the air as the distinct mechanical keening of Cybertronian rang through the hangar.]

Ratchet! Buddy! Take it easy! You're safe... we're getting you fixed up alright? You're good... First Aid was just here, he helped the mechanics get everything sorted out... you remember First Aid right? Hot Spot's crew? The Protectobots?
[This earned more cybertronian and a pointed look at the inventor.]
Yeah yeah, silly me. I forgot you picked him out as your protege. Course you know him...
[Coughing, gears grinding.]

Just so we're clear. If something happens... He gets my job as Chief Medic, and you're sending my hands to Whirl. Got it?

But nothing's going to happen! You're fine, heck maybe aside from getting some off time you'll be good to go again! Besides, you really wouldn't want your replacement to have to spend his time dealing with me right? His processor would crash in weeks!
[Wheeljack laughs anxiously, despite not having a mouth at all - he was worried to all hell and blaming himself a little for Ratchet's injuries, holding onto the Medic's hand.]

Primus no. It'd be DAYS rather than weeks. I wouldn't wish that on anyone, even the Decepticons.
[Ratchet laughs a little, it kind of hurts though.]
I'm just glad you got it right. I'd feel embarrassed if something blew up after I took that hit for you.
[The two share a chuckle before they notice you.]

Oh hey, you got visitors! You want me to show myself out or....

Ra...tchet?

Just so you know Izuru... it actually hurts as much as you think it does. But I'll live.
[His expression seems to remain on mildly perturbed.]
What's with the look on your face.

Am I interrupting something?
[He looks at the two Autobots holding hands.]

I've been through worse. Being held hostage by some of Megatron's worst, and they aren't the sort to make their prisoners comfortable.
And don't get the wrong idea and think we're Conjunx Endura. Wheeljack and I have just been friends for a long time.
[Yeah still not letting go here. It doesn't really help with the image.]
That kinda hurts Ratchet. Didn't we already spend most of our lives together? That kind of counts.
[There was good humor in his voice as Wheeljack snickered, nudging the medic as lightly as possible.]
Keep talking and I'm crushing that hand 'Jack.
From:

But I'm glad that you know each other for so long. That means the bond of true companions must be very strong! It's like a hero's team.
From:

I wouldn't exactly call us heroes, but I appreciate the thought. And yes... when you've been at war as long as we have, you really know that the being next to you would risk a lot for you and you'd do the same.
Eeh... in the most part anyway.
[Yeeeah, Cliffjumper isn't really the sort of guy who'd willingly take a hit for someone else... probably. He's more the guy who'd hit back three times as hard. Not to mention there are probably other Autobots out there not as morally strong as a number of the ones here.]
Conjunx Endura is actually a Pre-War thing. I guess the closest translation to an Earth term is a spouse. Its sort of a thing that doesn't get talked about much because some think its really unfeasible, others think its an embarrassing topic.
Its mostly because of how long our lives are.
[Would any marriage - space marriage or no - manage to keep going strong for a millennia?]

Umm. I would like to ask a question.

Yup, we really have a lot of time to think on things.
So what's on your mind?

[Optimus ponders the odds of who Megatron may have brought in...]
The Constructicons aren't just a Combiner Team though, they are also a part of Megatron's logistical support.
As such he would have brought in another group, possibly two when they are carrying out their other tasks. The Combaticons most likely given their experience and expertise. The Stunticons are also a distinct possibility for their mobility on the field.
Bringing in more than that would hamper his forces off world - the threat of a Gestalt is a major deterrent for more daring tactics and often forces field commanders into the defensive.

[That name takes a few moments to process, before Ken shakes it off.]
I know we have machines like Getter Robo, but I don't suppose you might have some kind of counter to this?
From:
no subject
But there are ways to defeat them...
The several different personalities into one combined body tends to leave them with a relatively more simple thought process - their actions simply being what their component beings can agree on. The more the minds conflict, the more likely it is to destabilize the combination by disabling the component parts one by one.
The difficulty is getting close enough and being able to cause enough damage.

And what about Ratchet?
From:

The damage he had inflicted was close to being lethal.
From:

[Even if he's never put the skills to test on his scale, Ken knows more than he really should how easy and/or difficult it is to kill people. And yet these Autobots...]
He wouldn't even be the first you've lost, if you did.
[Even if the sheer length of this war didn't tell enough, its not hard to get that kind of air off Prime.]
From:
no subject
And no... Ratchet wouldn't be the first if it happens... nor would I expect him to be the last.
But if anything... every loss merely makes clear the need to bring an end to the war as soon as possible.
From:

[Ken suddenly looks up at Prime, an odd, earnest look in his eyes.]
I mean... you wouldn't sell us out to secure peace with them, right?
From:

I promise that such a thing would not happen so long as I am alive.

I heard that it's your medic who's been injured?

Re: 2
That... would be me yes...
[Ratchet remains prone, a slight crackle distorting his speech.]
Wheeljack, flip that switch over there... third to the left. Yes that one.
[There's a slight hiss of pain.]
I'd ask how I'd be able to help but right now I'm a little indisposed.

Elma?
Coming!
[And cue the little helper robot... who just stares at Ratchet for a moment before looking back at his partner.]
Selena, you didn't say they were that big!
From:
no subject
I'm guessing it has to do with your smaller friend over there?
Pretty interesting build, design's compact, good for getting around hard to reach places - not a lot of room for weaponry... a spy drone?
[Wheeljack carefully moves away from his buddy to get a closer look at Elma.]
Hey little fella!
From:
no subject
Elma is well-equipped to handle all manner of tasks. Cooking, cleaning, sewing, emergency first aid, hacking...
... And also machine maintenance. He might be able to help at least with basic repairs. Places you might have more difficulty with, on account of size dfferences. He's a fast learner too.
From:
no subject
Well it wouldn't hurt to try. If he can handle that many roles then he can do well enough.
From:

She instinctively picks up a nearby welder, and looks up at Wheeljack.
"Hey, Autobot guy! I lead a crack team of Super Robot Mechanics: is there any way I can help you friend?"
From:
no subject
That kind of depends, how good's your metallurgy, physics and knowledge on our physiology? We've had our second best medic drop by to do what he could but maybe we could use a local opinion-
Wheeljack.
[The one was curt and cut the scientist short.]
Right... sorry.
I'm... not refusing treatment, but I need to know that you'd be able to handle the difficulty. I may be a machine but I've got a life of my own... do you think you can handle it if you might make a mistake and put me offline?
From:

"I...I don't know..."
From:
no subject
"No, dammit, I do know! I didn't bust my ass at technical schools and work day and night on ScarleTiger just so I could sit by and wring my hands when a fellow tech needs help!"
She looks up at Wheeljack. "And hell, maybe my small size will help me make delicate repairs to your innards that your big flappy metal mitts couldn't manage! You know...like those tiny fish that clean shark's teeth!"
From:
no subject
Heh...good to see you got over that quick. Hesitation isn't ever a good thing in our line of work. Just be careful, to be perfectly honest I think one of the shots that got me shorted out the controls to my pain dampeners. I'd probably feel... just about everything.
Wait, they were shorted out? Then that means-
My vocal controls were still functional. I think First Aid and the mechanics with him would have had a lot more pressure trying to stabilize me if I was screaming the whole time.

She cracks her knuckles, clips a flashlight to her lapel, slips on a pair of insulated gloves, and shoulders a sash of utility tools.
"I suppose my next step is to climb inside your gaping wound and check things out, right? I'll try not to leave any organic residue."
From:
no subject
No. Your next step is to get more safety equipment, preferably something that covers everything. Possibly breathing apparatus as well. If there's an energon leak I would rather not have it poison you while you're working.
From:
no subject
She nods to herself. "I'll go get that stuff. In the meantime, do you also have a body chart you could send to my tablet? Showing the basic layout of a Cybertronian form, and what your components look like on the inside?"
From:
no subject
I might, the issue is the level of data involved might not be able to fit inside it. If worse comes to worse I can just direct you.
From:

It's fine if you want to stay. I just came to see how he was doing.
From:

Good to see you again Kei. I can't say I'm doing that well though.
[Ratchet manages a small smile. Admittedly the amount of equipment he was hooked up to don't really paint a very nice picture.]
You really know how to soften blows don't you?
I'd rather be completely honest when it comes to medical matters than dance around the issue.

RE: 2
No I just came by to see how Ratchet was doing and apologize to the both of you. I know that the battle turned rather chaotic towards the end but my team made a sizable portion of the deployed forces and in our attempt to suppress, Blitzwing I believe was the name, we let ourselves get too focused and out of position.
There isn't much we could have done to actually stop the shots but suppression could have helped immensely. I'm glad you're awake and hope that you make a speedy recovery.
From:
Re: 2
I don't really blame you or your unit. Like you said, it was chaotic out there, and Blitzwing was also a major threat.
That being said, I'm hoping for one as well. I'm not exactly fond of being the one laid up like this.
