[Something really weird and worrying happened over the town of Shin Tanoura. Almost the whole town, and its surrounding area, is covered by a large, opaque black dome of some kind of energy, which appeared almost instantly overnight. The contact with the several thousand people inside has been completely cut off, and the initial search team sent into the dome didn't return...
This situation reached the news, and it reached Unity Group's ears even earlier. ESUN has established a research camp near the place, to figure out what the hell is going on - the camp is guarded by a bunch of mecha, just in case. The near Saotome Labs sent several researchers to help, but not too many, as Dr Saotome seems to be busy with other matters. What exactly, he doesn't specify.
Are you just reacting to the news about this? Or maybe you're at the camp, evaluating the situation? Just don't get close to the dome! A guard would stop you if you tried, anyway.]
[2 - frontdated to just before the mission, locked to Ryouma and Hayato]
[Some kind of commotion is going on at Saotome Labs. What could it be? Perhaps it has something to do with the reports from a nearby research camp. Regardless, the whole place is more chaotic than usual, and the security laxer... A perfect opportunity for a group of terrorist students to make their move.]

And so a small group, a half dozen moving with well-drilled efficiency, reach the Labs' last line of defense. They still have some time before the guards they've killed, alarms they've silenced, and cameras they've bypassed to reach this point will be noticed. Time enough to make a beeline for a concealed door they shouldn't know is there, ignoring the decoy facilities further down the mountainside. Time enough to plant and wire explosives, and hand the detonator to their leader.
He's watched impassively as his men paved the way from him, as if waiting to correct some slip during the exercises that had prepared them for this. When he presses the button, though, he's smiling. It's not a pleasant smile, but that of someone who's opening a present, and has uses in mind for it the giver won't like.]
Let's see whether the Ministry's been getting value for their money.
[Boom!
...
The door's intact.
This wasn't part of the plan...]

[And that's the sound of the jig being up, not that actual guards aren't en route because of the blast anyway. Ryoma stands tall and shows himself, perched on a rock outcropping slightly above the entrance. He doesn't exactly look like Security; just some guy in a cheap jacket, smirking.
Still, these terrorists are professionals, and it doesn't take them more than a second to start shooting. It takes him less than that to leap down to their level. He lands with one foot on a gunman's face, only to transition to a spinning kick on another before he even hits the ground.
He's moving again instantly, striking a single, elegant, devastating blow on each of the armed goons before they can aim and fire. It happens so fast the average person would still be processing what Ryoma had said by the time they're all unconscious.
But Hayato's not an average person, is he?]

Re: 2
[So they'd been ready for him. Or they'd reinforced security just in case someone tried to exploit the current confusion, or they'd left misinformation in the DoD files just in case - either way, commendably paranoid and twisty even by Hayato's standards. If this nutcase recognizes him, though, then it's more likely the spooks got to Yamada before he bled out, and got him to talk. The spineless weasel must have been more resilient than Hayato gave him credit for.
Meanwhile this joker's obviously more capable than anything in the files suggested they should expect to find here. All right; that might be worth the trip, in its own right. While Ryouma's laying into the first of his subordinates, Hayato does two things at once: dropping into a spinning crouch, sweeping the knees out from under the goon between him and Ryouma, dropping him to the ground - and drawing and throwing a knife, so that the motion will be concealed by the mook's body before he falls, and the throw narrowly miss him as he goes down, aimed at where Ryouma will have to be to take out the next in turn. With the slope of the ground, the falling terrorist should tumble some distance back down the way they came. Sugiyama's one of the more reliable ones, in Hayato's estimation. He should only need a single word to understand he needs to go for their getaway vehicle and bring it immediately.]

Tch! Let the small fry get away on his own. You're the one we've been waiting for.
[He'd say "Come with me," but it'll be easier when he's out cold. With the last of the minions incapacitated, Ryoma lunges fist-first at Hayato, ignoring his injury.]

So they've gotten themselves a pretty good watchdog here. Hii!
[He attacks! He's obviously studied martial arts, though he's not sticking to any single one by a long shot. It looks as though he's taken elements from a dozen different styles and blended them together into a wildly improvisational, unpredictable approach that takes full advantage of his abnormal speed and limber body. Attacks come from bizarre directions, and counter-attacks are nimbly avoided. Ryouma's getting a hell of a fight, here.]

[Ryoma's got a passing familiarity with more styles than he can count
(which granted isn't the highest number), himself, though he mostly sticks to his father's for his own use. But Hayato's definitely got tricks he hasn't seen before; he actually has to be on his A-game here. There's no reading the opponent's movements to improve his reaction time, no easy openings, no letting himself take a hit, no margin for error. Every move could be lethal.God, this is good times. He is, of course, keeping up--he doesn't fight like as much of a wild card, but his speed, strength, and strangely graceful sense of ferocity could have made him world famous if not for the slight snag of his personality.]

[Hayato looks like he's simultaneously enraged that Ryouma won't just hold still and die like any normal human should, and delighted by the unexpected challenge. Enough so that he spares only a little thought for the implications of that last comment - had they not just been ready for him, but set out to trap him from the start? Might some or all of the data he stole be pure fiction, then? But it'd be a strange fiction to construct, needlessly elaborate and bizarre. Getter, Getter... he has no intention of being captured - least of all before he finds out what it is!
The fight's interrupted by a burst of gunfire and a scream of anguish. It's from downhill, around the bend in the road - the direction Sugiyama fled. Hayato springs back to open up some distance from Ryouma, and spares a glance at the source of the sound.
...Sugiyama's back. He's stumbling and shuffling up the road, left arm clutching his injured right. No - he's clutching where his arm used to be, leaving a copious trail of blood behind him from the ragged stump. Whatever happened, it was messy. Hayato's eyes widen - this is no part of what they planned for, here.]
Hayato... Hayatooooo...
My arm... they ate my arm!

Oi! Get your friend and get inside! The real enemy's coming!
[Exposition is not one of Ryoma's talents, but what he means becomes apparent as "the true enemies" follow Sugiyama into view--four crawling, stalking forms that in the dark, from a distance, look almost human-shaped. As they close in on the screaming man, though, it looks more like he's being chased down by a pack of raptors; they're all scale and muscle, and with claws that put Hayato's manicure to shame. Ryoma steps forward.]
Damn reptiloids! We have to help him!
From:

Hiii!
[Hayato's freaking out. These things were not in the plan! They weren't in any report or briefing he's seen, public or above top secret! And while he's supremely confident in his ability to kill the hell out of pretty much any human opponent, he hasn't made a study of the weak points of - of were-raptors! Even so, though, he doesn't miss that Ryouma's talking about getting inside, which is just what Hayato wanted to hear even before these newcomers crashed the party.
If the watchdog's making Sugiyama a condition of shelter, then he'll have to act quickly. Hayato springs down the mountainside, gibbering as he claws the face off one of the things while kicking another back down the slope. He grabs Sugiyama by the neck and belt and hauls him back up towards the Labs - until another of the creatures leaps towards them, grabbing Sugiyama's leg in an impossibly strong grip! There are more coming, too, as he's wrenched with a scream from Hayato's hands, the terrorist leader scrambling back towards Ryouma via a few more Reptiloid assailants.]
Run.
[He holds something up. They're... pins, the pins from the grenades on Sugiyama's belt, being dragged back with him into the knot of monsters coming towards them.
Indoors would probably be a good place to be in a few seconds' time.]

SHIT!
[The barricade slams back into position behind them as soon as they dive in, and even through twelve inches of steel they can hear the blast. Well, that's the first wave down.]
Tch. Talk about throwing a guy to the wolves. You're not gonna be easy to work with, are you?
[Incidentally, the entrance hall to the facility is lined with about twenty armed guards--they were just waiting here while Ryoma fought Hayato and his gang solo. If it seemed like this may have been a trap before, it's pretty obvious now.]

This is Argos-3 confirming no G-element reactions, confirming negligible possibility of BETA involvement, inform Yokohama base that they can stand down.
[Noticing the other UG pilots VG nods his head and comes over.]
Any word as to what the cause of this could be ladies? I was called out to check since the elements out of Yokohama were tied up and this is ESUN jurisdiction so the other Japanese TSF forces would have to work through the red tape where we can move in more quickly.

It's something else. Something new, and I don't like it at all.
From:

Right now I'd have to agree with you in that I don't like this but this is also what we're meant to deal with isn't it ladies? We let the brains tell us if it's safe to move or not and then we follow up with the unique skills and abilities we have to fix it. As for right now I got called up on my down shift for this, any place around here to get some coffee?
From:

[Setsuko doesn't like it. There must be something they can do! But what? It's the same as with her own abilities. Nothing to do but wait.]
Umm, yes. I think there is a mess area set up somewhere around here...

Oi oi, such a look doesn't suit a woman as pretty as you are, you should smile. It's an odd situation but we've already lost contact with one team, if we go rushing in who knows what will happen, we're here to stop it if things get out of hand but if you're too wound up you'll be useless when the time comes.
As for the coffee, that makes for the wisdom of Athena with the beauty of Aphrodite. Truly an example for other women to attest to.

[Setsuko doesn't feel comfortable with this guy's attitude. Not now at least.]
From:

[VG shrugs before continuing.] People have been saying it in various ways for hundreds of years. Carpe Diem, you only live once, enjoy the time you're given and so on. Mourning the dead is one thing but if you fall into the trap of doing nothing else then you'll wear out and their sacrifices to protect others will be cheapened. I've lost more friends than I care to count on the front lines but I still smile and laugh when I can to live at least a bit more for their sakes.

[Setsuko understands this feeling. There is truth to VG's words.]
I know what you are saying. And yet... I'm sorry. I cannot help but feel worried.
Too much has happened recently. My apologies, Lieutenant.
From:

That's alright and you don't need to call me Lieutenant, just call me VG like I mentioned in the introduction since I dislike standing on ceremony. I'll tell you a secret though, we worry a lot about what happens as well so you don't have to apologize. I was really just trying to cheer you up since you looked a little down.
Whatever this is though I'm sure we'll figure it out and push it back one way or another. In the mean time you just need to keep calm and really just focus on what you can do and when you can do it.
From:

Did you talk to others from my team? It seems like you would get along with them.
