Yes! We are victorious! Truly, the day is ours. I expected not for Earth to carry so many talking beasts, yet here we are.
[Well, someone's happy. Sielje's spirits are high after the Cassowary Emperor has been stopped - for good.]
I suggest we celebrate by trying ourselves. A friendly bout, a training fight. I gladly accept any challenges.

[A few days later, the Ankaian knight can be found around the simulator area. Apparently she figured out the controls enough to be able to use at least the most basic mobile suit functions - a pretty good time, all things considered. And yet...]
[Even the simplest combat scenarios Sielje tried out always went the same: ignore ranged weaponry or ambushes and rush the enemy into melee. Be suppressed by the foe's superior range. Try to dodge and use terrain for cover, get overwhelmed, explode. Repeat over and over again.]

Why...
Why is it this way?
[She sits in the simulator cockpit, obviously frustrated and tired. The monitors display scenario history, at least a dozen attempts failed.]

...
[Trying to forget about her fiasco, the knight has chosen several books to distract herself with.]
How large is Australia, anyway?
[The books in question are: a technical manual of some handheld rifle, the original version of an old story she saw the movie adaptation of, a monthly fashion magazine, and a picture storybook about animals.
Regardless of contents, she studies each one carefully, with a concentrated look on her face.]

[Sielje lets go and takes a step back, looking mildly panicked.]
It is over, I will fight no more! My apologies...
Are your bones broken? Do we need help of a healer?
From:

No, no, I'm just gonna get bruised a bit, is all...
[Jen staggers up to her feet, rubbing her head.]
...man, I was going to do a whole teaching moment thing, but then you just beat me up anyways...

[Sielje offers a hand to help you get back up.]
When unarmed, you are at a disadvantage. I have learnt several fighting techniques to reduce it.
From:

Yeah, me too, but I guess you're just better than me at it.
...okay, maybe I'm just assuming things wildly, but people still use ranged weapons and ambushes when they're fighting back on your home, right? 'Cause the way you reacted...

Okay...wow. Like, I know things are pretty different, but...wow.

[Sielje's surprised at this kind of reaction.]
Of course they are different. What do you mean?
From:

...Well, if you had to fight someone stronger, faster, and tougher than you...someone like Moswar by yourself, how would you win?

[Serious Sielje is weighing the question carefully.]
I would not.

...Even knights back here would use ranged weapons and ambushes, if it'd help them win.

Codes of honor existed on Earth by the time of my forefathers, and the legendary king of old. But he did not like them, or how people followed them, so when he arrived to Ankaia and saw how it was, he made his own one.
A code where winning is not as important as making sure the strongest is the winner.

[...No, that thought's better left off unfinished.]
...Well, it's not like everyone can become good at warfare here, either. Though if you ever want someone to give you tips on marksmanship, I'll be glad to help.

I appreciate your offer, but will I ever have use of it?
From:

...Well...I can get you not wanting to use guns against other Ankaians, but please don't just throw yourself into a sword fight with machineguns.

[Sielje looks so torn on the options presented to her.]
From:

If it helps at all...You could only use the gun, bow, or whatever on other people with ranged weapons. And only after they fire back first. That makes sense, right?
From:

...
[Sielje sighs, seemingly torn.]
At the very least, knowing how to work a ranged weapon will not hurt. Just because you show me how, does not mean I am going to do anything dishonorable with it.
Is that right?

Weapons don't have minds of their own, it's how people use them that make them just or wicked.

Trigger, you mean that small lever you pull to shoot?
