[Pre- "Shine-Tommorow, Shine Forever"]
Solaris and the Unity Group is gearing up for a big military op, and things are busy at Saikhama Base. Ammo and repair parts are being shipped in by the bushel, and the air is filled with smoke as mechanics work round-the-clock to overhaul the Mechas in the hanger.
Suddenly, a mat-black shuttle with a ”日“ logo flies into the open hanger bay and lands like a UFO. As the shuttle lands, Dido looks up from her welding job; her eyes widen, and she drops her tools and books it for the nearest exit.
A ramp lowers from the shuttle, guards with sunglasses and turtlenecks file out, and a imperious, well-dressed woman strolls out and sweeps her gaze along the hustle and bustle of the base.

She sniffs in contempt. "So this is the Unity Group: humanity's strongest heroes. But really, can a group devoted to protecting others be said to have true strength?"
[Cut for long, borderline Objectivist speech.]
"I, Alexia Sybil, ask of you all!" She declares, raising her voice to whoever's listening. "In this universe filled with alien empires out to plunder our worlds, what is humanity's truest strength against them? Courage? Compassion? Honor? Cunning?"
She snorts. "No, it is ambition! It is our yearning for power, influence, wealth and achievement! Those with ambition...are true beacons of humanity! Those without ambition...are scum!
A group such as this that defends the earth for the sake of others will surely grow corrupt and weak in the end, and do no better than prop up the scum in their indolence!"
"...therefore, should we not–?"
The classy woman notices you inching away. "Oh!" She exclaims. Dropping her speech mid-sentence, she walks over to you, grabs your hand, and shakes it vigorously.
"You're Dido's friend, right? I've heard so much about you!" She chirps in a bubbly tone. "Do you know if she's around?"

While Alexia Sybil is chatting with people, two other well-dressed members of the Sybil family slip out of the shuttle and wander through the hanger bay.
One of them is looking at the rows of mechas in their gantries and shaking his head.

"Conventional, conventional...all of these designs are too conventional! Where's the creativity, the daring? As a new form of war machine, mechas need a new warrior aesthetic!"
The other walks up to you and hands you a business card.

"Hello," She says politely. "I represent Sybil and Associates, an interplanetary law firm. Are you in need of representation?"
Ummm....
[3]
Dido burst through the door of the room you are in, slams the door shut, then leans against it in a panic!
"Oh gods, it's them it's them it's them!" She wheezes. Her eyes focus on you. "You!" She wheezes. "Hide me, now!"
Do you help Dido hide?

Do you help Dido hide?

"Hmmm..." Alexia murmurs, stroking her chin. "I find your ideals to be of a suspiciously feudal and altruistic bent...but you uphold them because you want to."
She smiles suddenly and clasps Peola on the shoulder. "Clearly my Dido is in good hands! The few details that bespectacled alien nobleman passed on to me already hinted at your fine character, but I had to make sure in person!"
Bespectacled...? Oh dear...

[Peola blanched at that.]
Red hair? Purple eyes? Accompanied by a short blond girl with pigtails and two other girls?

Alexia nods. "Indeed! They approached me at an art convention and mentioned that my Dido was working closely with you! They made a point of impressing on me that you were abandoning your obligations your people and risking civil war to follow your desires..."
She smiles. "They assumed I'd disaprove of your actions...but I admire your dedication to selfishness!"

[Peola sounded tremendously disbelieving at that. There was no possible way that could be true. In fact it probably wasn't. Trust the redheaded menace to try drum things up to force her back.. yet something about this woman's approval made Peola feel ill.]
It wasn't because I was selfish. I just wanted to be able to fight and live as my own person and not have to deal with some irritating noble treating me like I'm some kind of object.
[But at the same time as a princess didn't that mean she has some responsibility? A flare of irritation makes her hair flicker with ki.]

"You seem to regard the description of selfish as an insult...but I view selfishness as being just what you described," Alexia says seriously. "Fighting and living as your own person. Living in freedom, and never conforming to the desires of others. I admire your yearning for that freedom, Princess Peola."
Alexia snorts. "Plus, that aristocratic society of your seems awfully backwards and corrupt. A few years in the flames of Interregnum might do it some good!"

[To say Alexia's approval and the words behind it were seriously having a rather negative effect on Peola was an understatement. She genuinely felt quite a bit of distress. Then the insult comes in... sure there were a lot of idiotic nobles, but there were just as many truly noble families. Many of them tracing their lines all the way back to the first monarch.]
And maybe my fist in your jaw will do even better! I don't agree with a lot of stupid things my father did, and maybe there are a bunch of backwards and corrupt idiots calling themselves nobles for something their long dead ancestors who were actually worth something did...
But don't you ever look down on people just because of how we run things! We've done well enough since the time of the First Monarch thank you very much and every one from and since her has ruled fairly and justly!
