Many of Unity Group have gathered, and for a reason that should be obvious - Commander-in-Chief is gone. He, and so many others, have departed from this world recently. Roland Antov did not even leave a body to mourn. But the Unity Group leaders stand up to say their own eulogies.

"When I met Roland Antov for the first time, my impression was - green. Totally inexperienced, and I suspected this is why someone put him in charge. Same for many others in Unity Group, such a mix of rookies and veterans. But... we prevailed. No, we thrived. So did Antov. He didn't let his inexperience drag him down. In the end he was doing what he felt was right. It's been an honor."

"I was there when it happened. It was a tragedy but - to the end, Antov was trying to find the best in people. As a soldier I may find that foolish. As a human being, I can't. When the chips went down he was willing to put his life on the line, shield what he cared for with his own body. To the death... and even beyond it."
Commander Huffman stays silent. Are you here to add words of your own? Or perhaps...

"The big question is, what do we do now, hmm?"

"..."
Talk to the commanders as they form a circle to discuss matters. Yet it's not done in a private room, but rather here, with others still around.
[2]
Not an announcement per se, but people who are interested in recent findings were directed towards Solomon Huffman.

"Quite an interesting tidbit. Here, take a look."
He has two schematics to show.
"On the right - they disintegrate quickly, but this is the rough internal form. Materials are a mix of metal and earth and why they work at all puzzles my scientific mind, but nevermind that. Look at the design, it is not too dissimilar from normal designs, is it not? Just very... refined. Except for the lack of cockpit, of course."
"And here, on the left. Much cruder, there's a cockpit - added almost like an afterthought, or something welded on by an amateur. Now, remove extra armor slabs, remove the cockpit and everything pilot-related. How does it look like? Like a cheap knockoff. But still a knockoff - the similarities are obvious."
The schematic on the right shows a half-destroyed and cut into Portent, one of the new enemies.
On the left, something you had a chance to fight on many occassions before. The Lady's Good Men mass-produced Yob.
[3]
Now this is an announcement.

"I need everyone in a briefing room. ASAP."
The briefing rooms all show the same video - a short scene of combat, less than a minute long, repeating itself over and over. And as far as combats go, this one is very one sided.
"Less than an hour ago, an ESUN military base in central America was attacked. There was no sortie because the whole thing was over in minutes. The defenders obliterated, the base is in ruins, assailaints gone. We have no clues regarding their identity except for this recording, and an anonymous tip-off."
"It's a newly emerged terrorist group called SSR. They believe ESUN is a tyrannic faux-government that holds Earth in an iron grip and so, their goal's to destabilize and overthrow it. They are extremely well trained and armed..."
The video shows Genoaces, Daughtresses and similar mass production units massacred as military buildings explode around them. The attackers' machines - Gesterbens, and Adeles.
"And they know about us. For SSR, Unity Group is like a crown jewel of ESUN. A cracked and weakened one, but that just makes it an easier target. If they vanquish us, their cause grows in strength. And this is exactly what they are going to do."

[Leos tapped at the side of his head. The smile was gone and despite how much it actually made his face hurt to force his expression into complete seriousness...]
During combat I tried to hack into one of the enemy units. They weren't acting like piloted machines so I figured it was worth a shot.
The AI that was controlling them...
Its beyond advanced. I've tried hacking regular AI after I left... but nothing on Earth felt like what I tapped into. All I know is that its up to something.

[Leos shivered as he thought back to that one moment... it was a few seconds but the complete shock it gave to his system was not something he could forget.]
Before it booted me out it was... terrifying-
[He shakes his head, trying to recollect himself.]
No... no...
Threatening yes... Ominous.. but at the same time... it felt perfect. Like the kind of feeling when you're completely at peace...
And that worries me. Because whatever it is... its tied to something bigger.

Sasha hands them a manilla envelope. "Here's our resignation papers for the position of prison wardens." She says quietly. "Although we failed at guarding the POWs, we hope you'll still keep us as pilots."

"Well, I'm not stopping you. I don't think Howe or Huffman are going to, either... but stick around. At a time like this Unity Group needs to stay together."
From:

"In light of your opinions, with your permission we'll...delay our resignation for a few months time, until we've sorted out the affairs out our remaining prisoners." Alexis rumbles. He then frowns. "Did you learn what caused the TK field reaction?"
From:
no subject
"The TK field? Interesting, that. It was a synchronisation effect between Grungust Alpha and Huckebein Omega. But the twist here is, when it happened Huckebein Omega's telekinetic system was already fried, just like the rest of its cockpit."
"I don't throw this term lightly. But it was a miracle."
