[All this talk about Newtypes and on top of it Cyber Newtypes is making Flit think back to what he'd talked about with Garrod. And more importantly a brief conversation about it with Captain Grodek...]
I just don't know, but... I've had mental reactions to things before. Like with Eva and occasionally when I fight, my body doing something before my brain can actually process what it is that I need to do.
I mean, that's what being a Newtype entails, doesn't it? Except Tiffa's never acted like she's sensed something from me, or vice-versa.
There are certain traits a Newtype usually can exhibit, yes, but the term is not a catch-all for individuals with psychic powers. Newtypes are in fact one of the more recent strains of espers. However, there existed in the past a classification that -at a cursory glance- Newtypes are greatly reminiscent of...
Borderline-precognition during battle, increased spatial awareness, and the ability to sense others like them... these were abilities exhibited by individuals able to tap into a region of the brain known as the "X-Region". In much of humanity the region is entirely vestigial, but in a select few it is only dormant. I know that some are attempting to research and learn what they can of the X-Region, though it is difficult since occurances of it are random and rare, not even being hereditary.
People who can tap into the X-Region's power are known as X-Rounders.
[Cut to the present. Flit is pouring over not information from the AGE System, but instead a folder with sparse and in many cases old documents. It's everything he can find out about X-Rounders. Not much, but one study reported the trend that upon exposure to an active X-Rounder, dormant ones would begin to awaken too.]
But if that's true... does that mean that Yurin and Desil were X-Rounders?
