"Greetings, citizens of the world."
The nature behind Lowen General's ominous statement now reveals itself. Major news sites and channels are all simultaneously hijacked by a video feed showing a woman - no, not just any woman. The Chimera leader.
"My name is Edel Bernal, an ex-Major in the ESUN military. Currently I am the leader of a small group known as Chimera - but with these very words, that group is no more! No, from now on Chimera becomes an independent, political entity. We are not a country, but something greater than one. A country is determined by territory it holds. We live in an era of information, and this is what Chimera controls - information!"
"Every bit of information available online, every bit that has passed through online networks, is known by us, thanks to the power of the UN Servers. I must say, there is quite a lot of it, including important military secrets and dirty mysteries some corrupt politicians would prefer not to come to light... but bane be to them. We announce a new world order! An order where the corrupt and selfish no longer hold the population in an iron hand, an order that won't repeat mistakes and internal, self-centered politicking of ESUN. An order dedicated to truth, and good of all of mankind."
"We humbly ask you only to recognize Chimera's sovereignity. Even if stuffy officials disagree, you know the truth within your heart. As soon as time comes and nations of the world become ready, we will approach them for closer cooperation. Let us move towards a brighter future, together."
The hijack ends as abruptly as it started.

"Well. That was awkward."

"I can't believe it! He played us like a fiddle."
Toby and Denzel - or rather, their alternate versions, are angry, beaten up, and their machines are wrecked. But they're alive.

"Asakim Dowen's one piece of a shitty guy. And with everything that happened, the two of us have no choice now but to apologize. This is still a strange world to us, a lot is familiar but so much is different. But one thing for sure. We'll find a way to make up for everything."

"Yeah! It's a promise. I swear on my status as a Glory Star member. I mean, our side's Glory Stars. Looks like you had your own set, too..."

I don't suppose you ever ran into anything like them back on your side.

"That's enough Toby. We have that friend of yours to talk to, so thanks for giving us some breathing room. Looks like we're going to need it."

Problem is, information is not enough to take over the world, but it certainly can be used to plunge a lot of it into chaos very easily.
I had been expecting some sort of secondary agenda from the Chimeras since that incident with the "doctored" recordings that nearly got this group and the SSR to declare war on each other. Blackmail, or an attempt at getting some of those superweapons people seem to keep leaving around. But this? I admit I did not think they were insane.

[This situation felt so familiar, yet he knew that it wasn't the same.]
Sorry, I completely forgot to introduce myself...old habits die hard you know.
[He offers a hand to the Glory Stars.]
Willis Clades, I was friends with this world's version of you guys.

Denzel firmly shakes the hand offered.
"A certain classy lady told us you'd show up, and that you knew this side's Toby and Chief, too."

His name is Willis. Willis Clades.
Ah, I'm Elyssa Soleil. You can call me Elys.
While you're going about, you might want to look up what else this world has in store, too.

But I tended to not believe a lot of people, and I had less than no proof.

Since someone already introduced me, maybe I should introduce someone to you guys also.

You have to realize that just because you're smart, Kugimiya, doesn't mean everyone else is. [The tone is more pleasant (and a little amused) than anything, though]
And I imagine that I wasn't the only one that suspected some agenda but didn't consider them enough threat to move against them immediately while the Vagans were still knocking at the door.

"Yeah, very funny Toby. There's a large centralized government... technically. A lot of folks don't listen to it and made their own smaller countries that oppose it, some peacefully but others... it's a damned mess sometimes. But there are no monsters or creatures."

"Toby's afraid she'll punch him in the face. Don't worry, he has experience with that. Best not to leave loose strands hanging around - if she wants to talk to us, let's do it."
