[After a long, rough month Kei can be found back in her favorite room of the base, the kitchen. As usual, what she's working on is sweets, at least going by the smell of chocholate and the presence of a bain marie on the stove. Unusually, there's no neon jelly or anything like the sickly sweet smell making you almost feel itchy being near it that her cooking usually produces. Even more unusually, she genuinely looks happy as she works.]

2 [Locked to Izuru]

[A short while later, she can be found outside Izuru's door, holding a plain, unadorned cake box that she apparently scrounged up for a bit. After a short moment to psyche herself up, she knocks.]

[...And just a bit later, a visibly downcast Kei can be seen walking away from Izuru's room. She's heading to the nearest kitchen to pull out one of her condensed milk drinks before beginning her walk back to her own room.]

Ehh? Who is it?

[The door opens.]

Hey Kei. What's up?

Ahh... so that's what's in the box?

[Izuru looks at Kei's container nervously. He knows well how her sweets usually taste like.]

So, umm... you are bringing it here because...

I mean, it's usually Asagi's room where we do stuff like this.
herodrawing: (Eeeh?!)

From: [personal profile] herodrawing

Ehh? Me?

[Izuru blinks and gapes, surprised.]

Just me?

No. But I wonder now...

Kei, could it be that...
herodrawing: (Leave it to me)

You tried a new recipe, and want me to taste-test it first before sharing with everyone else?!

I'll do my best! Come on in.

[Izuru opens the door wider and moves aside. The room on the other side is pretty basic, if you don't count stacks of comic books and some posters of super heroes.]

You know, not a lot of people come visit my room. Like I just said it's usually Asagi's.

But it's okay. Sometimes you need to be alone for a while, right?

[Izuru moves over a chair for Kei - after relocating elsewhere several tomes of transforming hero manga that were resting on it.]

Sometimes... there's a lot of thinking to be done.

[Strangely serious, Izuru grabs for the fork. He does not stab the cake yet - it takes a brave man to do that, and he is not sure if he is brave enough at the moment.]
herodrawing: (Eeeh?!)

From: [personal profile] herodrawing

There's...

[Absent mindedly, Izuru mimics Kei's cake-grabbing movement. He actually puts some into his mouth.]

...

This...!

It's... good! It's really good!

You made good cake, Kei!

[Izuru sounds happy but also pleasantly surprised.]
herodrawing: (Time to draw)

From: [personal profile] herodrawing

Ah... good question.

[Izuru doesn't know either, but it doesn't change the past.]

Yeah! You really outdid yourself this time. I'm sure everyone will love it.

[Izuru grabs a bigger portion with his utensil.]
herodrawing: (Awkward conversation)

From: [personal profile] herodrawing

Ah, you see...

I've spent a lot of time wondering what it really means. To be a hero.

It's stupid but for a while I thought, if being a hero means doing certain kind of things, then maybe I don't want to be one after all.
herodrawing: (Notebook of heroism)

From: [personal profile] herodrawing

Yeah. It's a good starting point and... that's really all we need, right? No need to overthink it from there. Just gotta remember what is right.
herodrawing: (Serious)

From: [personal profile] herodrawing

Yeah.

[Suddenly, Izuru looks serious.]

You can't save everyone. A hero who always wins doesn't exist...

But it doesn't mean he should give up from trying to.
herodrawing: (Eeeh?!)

From: [personal profile] herodrawing

[A sudden thought!]

Ah! Someone who doesn't give up even when you lost.

Is this what a hero is?!
herodrawing: (Sigh...)

From: [personal profile] herodrawing

Yeah... I guess you're right, Kei. Being a hero is not easy, otherwise anyone could be one. Even the bad guys.
herodrawing: (Time to draw)

From: [personal profile] herodrawing

It sounds like you have a pretty clear idea after all, Kei! You'll become a hero one day, for sure.

I mean it! Now, let's finish this. It'd be a shame for it to go to waste.

[Izuru will continue eating the cake.]

I know I said it already, but... It's really good.

[Asagi enters the kitchen to get a health drink from the fridge.]

Did something happen?
cloningblues: (talking part two)

From: [personal profile] cloningblues

That's the only thing that's always on his mind, huh.
cloningblues: (my ulcer is acting up again)

He'll find his answer eventually. Probably from one of the weirder people in Unity Group, too.

Of course it is. If being a hero was simple, everyone would do it.

...He'll be fine. Right?
