Lone Wing
1. [For those who were on 'Into the Crush' - the shuttle ride back to Sakihama wasn't exactly filled with cheer...at least on Tsubasa's part. Even as you touch down, she appears to be preoccupied with her own thoughts instead of saying hello; not even sparing the other members on-base a glance. When she does speak, she gets straight to business.
Given how she was like when Kanade still was around months ago, it almost looks like she's a completely different person. Do you approach?]
---

2.
"Wait. Even if it's an order, I cannot-"
[At a spot just outside the base, you catch a glimpse of the Symphogear user just as a call is ended on her. It's too late to hear what the conversation was about, but the displeasure she's expressing is clear as she lowers her phone.]
...
"Since that time, I've been fulfilling my duty on my own. So, why?"

[Izuru can't believe his eyes. His face displays a mix of shock and relief.]
Tsubasa, you're back!

[She's not even turning around to look at you, Izuru.]
no subject
But at least you could drop around here for a bit. That's what counts.
no subject
That was a command to remain here for the time being. I have no other choice.
[And it is indeed a bitter admission coming from her.]
no subject
[Izuru looks like a kicked puppy.]

[Finally, Tsubasa turns around after she hears this.]
What happened back then, to Kanade, gave me the realization I needed.
I am a lone sentinel; and my songs, weapons. That is how I've fought - I need no one else.
[She walks past Izuru and towards the exit.]
This place isn't for me.
no subject
Tsubasa, wait!
[Izuru regains enough composure to call out to her before she leaves. But not to grab her hand or anything - even he knows it might be a very bad idea.]
I know what happened was horrible, and you're not the only one who feels bad about it!
But it's not true!
1/2
Kanade was everything to me.
My weakness led to what happened that day. But, I wasn't the only one at fault...

It's true, it's our fault. Unity Group wasn't strong enough and Kanade had to rescue everyone, by paying the price of her life. And I wasn't even there.
I promised that I will become strong so this won't happen again. But it already did and nothing will change that, right? So if you have to blame someone...
Then it's alright to blame us.

But then, she walks away. Did she accept what Izuru said? It's hard to tell.]
no subject
[Izuru lets her leave this time. He feels decidedly un-heroic right now.]

Miss Tsubasa... I just wanted to say thank you. For your help out there!
no subject
Think nothing of it.
I was only there because of the Commander's orders.
no subject
[His hands ball up into fists and he looks down at the ground, ashamed.]
My own words nearly killed all those people, convincing that Shadow Mirror lady to open fire on them...

[Numbers and facts are crunched in Flit's head.]
... Don't even bother getting in arguments with them. Otherwise that would just give them ideas like what that Shadow Mirror lady did.

Actions decide a battle.
On the field, that is how conflicts of ideals are resolved.
[And with that, she resumes her walk.]

What are you doing?! I need you to stay still so I can observe the intruder without her seeing me!
[Said mechanic glances at Tsubasa, then at Skald. Then shrugs helplessly before getting back to work.]
By Thor's Beard this is getting infuriating!
[He stomps on the ground fiercely.]
-Bap-
[That's it. That's all the sound it made.]
You! Intruder! Who are you? State your business here!
no subject
It...speaks?
no subject
[Skald still doesn't get just how high on the weirdness scale talking cats that can pilot robots are.]
Yes. I can speak. I am also a combatant here in the Unity Group and have trained for battle for quite some time.
[He puffs up in pride.]
no subject
I am Tsubasa Kazanari, of Japan's 2nd Mobile Disaster Response Corps. To whom am I speaking to?
[She's still not sure what to make of this just yet, though. So, the incredulity remains. But since what Skald said is also true, she'll give him the benefit of the doubt.]
no subject
[Skald just lets out a somewhat irritated noise. He doesn't really feel up to doing the whole introductory spiel he usually loves unloading onto people.]
I am one of the pilots of the combat unit Smildon. As for those hostile birds, they were what myself and my partner along with several others were bred and trained to combat... however Archibald and I are the only ones left who will fight.
no subject
[Tsubasa suddenly shakes her head. Best not to think about those circumstances too much. She's already talking to a cat, after all.]
...No, nevermind.
If there's nothing else you need, I must be going.

...Doing okay?

I've had little time for anything else.
no subject
It must be really hard. In more ways than one.
no subject
If that means becoming nothing more than a sword, then so be it.

There is no one else, and I'd rather it stay that way.

That is how I've been fighting, and I don't intend to change it.
