The knife that cuts deep
[1] [Postmission]
[The situation was resolved. What was left of the Organization known as Scylla and Charybdis was being apprehended. Their underground base was in ruins and their ties to the Ebon Court were all but destroyed given the events in the tunnels. Not only that but they also managed to get the third key.]
[Yet despite this Calvin remains silent as he looks up at his battered Genoace. Shield cleaved, guns dented and its knife bloodied. There was clearly something bothering him as his gaze now turned to the recovered artifact. A rusted and very horrifically painful looking knife. Rather than speaking though, the air around the knife just seemed to have the faint scent of blood along with somehow making the air around it sound sharp as impossible as it was.]
Do you ever get the feeling that there's more to a story than you think you know?
[2] [Some time later]
[Calvin's out in town, with coffees in a cardboard carrying tray in hand as he walked down a row of shoplots. Somehow he didn't notice you at all as he kept moving through the area, moving to the older section of the lots and standing in front of one place in particular. From the looks of the place it was a magic shop. Not one of those places that sold stage magician tricks, but one that actually catered to people with a certain set of beliefs. Or in Calvin's case a certain level of wariness for things that people believed in.]
[He lingers at the entrance, trying to compose himself a little as he stared at the door. For a while he looked a little unsure about entering.]
[He still hasn't noticed you either. Try to get his attention?]

2/2
[With that out of the way Lorien returns to her conversation with Dido.]
"Well some people have squids in their eyes if they haven't noticed it before. I mean I get science that's so crazy its almost magic, but when people just come up with half-assed bullcrap because they just don't wanna admit how much they don't know and how they just can't know? Its kind of a thing."
[With that she takes another chug of her soda, covering her mouth to muffle a sudden belch. Siad hand promptly went to her nose.]
"Oogh, okay. That was a bad one right there."
...Nice. Truly the woman of mystery and mysticism I fell in love with.
"You know it! Anyway, Defence against the Dark Arts 101 to quote a certain book 'The Dark Arts are many, varied, ever-changing,-"
[Calvin promptly muffled a snicker as Lorien geeked out. Lorien shushed him with a mutter about being thrown off her groove and that if he does it again he's getting the couch.]
"Aaaand eternal. So I stocked up on all sorts of ways. I've got some Japanese paper wards, a bunch of seeds for plants that repulse that stuff, amulets... course if all else fails protective wards done up with salt are a good temporary measure. Its good if you go up against vampires too. Just chuck it at the floor and they'll be stuck counting that stuff for ages!"
Re: 2/2
She turns back to Lorien. "Hmmm...well, I could always glue the Fu Talismans to the inside of my mecha cockpit without them getting in the way. As for the herbs..."
Dido strokes her chin in thought. "Are there a few pungent banishing herbs I could mix with a batch of pepper spray? Pepper spray's really come in handy the past few months..."
no subject
"That first part? Baaaad idea, the glue might mess up the calligraphy when it starts getting soaked up. They might get weakened or just do something worse depending on things. The really strong ones you can just slap onto what you want kept safe and they'll stick until they go flat or something just wears them out."
[Lorien gets off her chair before walking over to one of the shelves, finger tracing along a collection of jars.]
"Hey Calvin, that emergency kit of yours need a refill?"
Could use a bit more mullein. Ran out a while back.
[It wasn't long before she came back with a few jars, setting them down with a little help from Calvin to make sure they didn't have any unexpected landings when she set them down.]
"I'd think you'd want some heavy hitters. Not exactly a catch all for everything but I've got a few things that'd be good. Garlic's always a must have - seriously... this stuff gets more than just vamps, Mullein petals pack one heck of a wallop too and burnt Osha with Sage and Rosemary can seriously light a fire under some asses. But just cause this stuff works on spirits and demons don't mean it'll work on things from another dimension."
You mean like shoggoths?
"...That's really specific. Dude. Calvin. Calvin Eldred Edwards. Did you. find. a. shoggoth."
...Not... personally. There's one on base and its left its mark but I've never actually seen it.
"...Take up boating. Just in case we get a case of Great Old Ones. Just to be sure."
